Pertamina's exploration in Natuna waters strengthens energy security


Jakarta - Pertamina East Natuna, a subsidiary of Pertamina's upstream oil and gas company, stated that the exploration project in the North Natuna Sea waters is part of efforts to strengthen national energy security, while also providing a positive economic impact for the nation.

"The project is under the management of Regional Java Subholding Upstream Pertamina, as an exploration effort to increase domestic oil and gas reserves," said VP Exploration Regional Java Subholding Upstream Pertamina Indra Yuliandri in a statement received in Jakarta, Monday (10/3).

According to him, the working area of ​​Pertamina East Natuna is 10,484 km2, with a sea water depth of 130-150 meters and a distance of around 270 kilometers from Natuna Besar Island.

"The potential resource figures need to be further validated through 3-dimensional (3D) seismic data acquisition with an area of ​​1,166 km2, to support the search for new oil and gas resources in the North Natuna Sea," he said.
