Jakarta - President Director of PT Pertamina Simon Aloysius Mantiri said he will prioritize evaluative steps and internal improvements so that public trust in Pertamina can be restored.
"I am here to apologize to all Indonesian people for the incident that has caused a commotion in society. We ask for the opportunity to work hard so that we can regain the trust and pride of the people," Simon said in his statement confirmed by ANTARA from Jakarta, Wednesday.
As a leader, Simon said that the responsibility for improving public trust in Pertamina remains on his shoulders, even though the alleged corruption case in the management of crude oil and refinery products at PT Pertamina Subholding and the Cooperation Contract Contractors (KKKS) occurred in 2018–2023, before he took office.
Therefore, he and the other directors took proactive steps to reorganize the company's governance and ensure that similar incidents do not happen 'again'.
"Although this incident occurred before my era of joining, as the leader who has been given the mandate at this time, this is also my responsibility," he said.
He revealed that at the beginning of the disclosure of the case by the Attorney General's Office, he chose not to immediately appear in public to avoid the impression of being defensive.
This decision was taken so as not to worsen the situation and to provide Pertamina with the opportunity to conduct introspection and internal evaluation.
