Jakarta - Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency Nusron Wahid said that land certificates issued between 1961 and 1997 are potentially vulnerable to seizure because they are not accompanied by clear cadastral maps so the location of the land is often unknown.
Nusron, in a discussion with media crew in Jakarta, Wednesday (19/3), emphasized the importance of transforming land certificates for the 1961-1997 period to electronic to avoid the risk of land grabbing which could harm the owners.
"There is a certificate, but there is no cadastral map behind it, so the location is potentially unknown and it could be taken over by other people," said Nusron.
Therefore, he appealed for the momentum of Eid al-Fitr 2025/1446 Hijriah to be utilized by the community who have land certificates from 1961-1997, which the BPN calls KW-456 certificates, to change them into electronic certificates equipped with cadastral maps.
"While it is the momentum of Eid al-Fitr, gather your families in their respective villages, if possible migrate/transform them to electronic certificates so that there is a cadastral map immediately," said Nusron.
This is important so that landowners can easily know the location and boundaries of their land, and reduce the possibility of encroachment that could harm the landowner.
