Ministry of Transportation: Air passengers increase due to fall in airfares

Jakarta - The Ministry of Transportation noted an increase in the number of domestic air passengers on D-7 of Eid al-Fitr 2025/1446 Hijriah, in line with the policy of reducing domestic economy class airfares by 13-14 percent.

Head of the Ministry of Transportation's Communication and Public Information Bureau, Budi Rahardjo, in a statement in Jakarta, Wednesday, said that based on the daily report of the 2025 Integrated Eid Transportation Center Post, the movement of domestic air transportation passengers on March 24, 2025 or D-7 reached 200,401 passengers, an increase of 7.7 percent compared to 2024 which was around 186,470 passengers.

"We see high public enthusiasm for this policy. The decrease in ticket prices has helped increase flight accessibility for travelers, which has had an impact on increasing the number of air transport passengers significantly," said Budi

He said cumulatively, the total domestic passengers from March 21 to March 24, 2025 or D-10 to D-7 reached 722,439 passengers, an increase of 9.3 percent compared to last year which was recorded at around 661,497 passengers.

It is known that the domestic flight ticket price reduction policy is valid for 15 days, namely for flights from March 24 to April 7, 2025, with a ticket purchase period starting from March 1 to April 7, 2025.

"This policy of reducing ticket prices aims to ease travel costs for people who want to go home, as well as encourage increased mobility during the Eid period," he said.
