Jakarta - Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono emphasized that the government continues to follow up on the investment plan for cattle breeding to be carried out by TH Group, a company from Vietnam.
Sudaryono at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta, Friday, said this investment is important to increase the cattle population in Indonesia and increase economic activities in the livestock sector.
"We have to continue to follow up, the investment is good for us. The few cows become many, the economic activities become large, and it does not harm anything," he said.
He explained that TH Group's investment includes importing cattle from Vietnam to be bred in Indonesia.
Currently, there are three locations that TH Group is interested in, one of which is in Maros, South Sulawesi.
The government also offers several other locations according to the company's needs, both to approach the market and to develop breeding cattle.
"The point is, we need more breeding cows. Cows take longer to give birth than humans, if we don't increase the number, the cattle population could decline over time, especially if they are often slaughtered for sacrifice," he said.
The government has identified around 2 million hectares of potential land throughout Indonesia that can be used for dairy and beef cattle farming.
This area is not only offered to TH Group, but also to other investors who are interested in developing livestock businesses in Indonesia.
