Jakarta - Member of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives M. Sarmuji asked the Government and law enforcement to take firm action against individuals who counterfeit packaged cooking oil products from the Ministry of Trade, Minyakita.
"The fraud committed by these corrupt individuals is very vulgar," said Sarmuji in a statement in Jakarta, Wednesday (12/3).
Moreover, he said, the losses to the community have been very large, the violations by these individuals are in accordance with the Consumer Protection Law, Article 8 concerning prohibited acts for business behavior related to sizes, measurements, and scales that do not correspond to the actual ones.
It was also said that the crimes of the Minyakita counterfeiters were clearly deliberate. The fraud was very detrimental to Indonesian society as a whole.
According to him, investigations must also be carried out against unscrupulous producer companies that are not registered at all. However, they carry out production activities under the name of Minyakita products.
"I also received reports of fraudulent practices in the distribution of bulk cooking oil with fake Minyakita labels," he said.
