Jakarta - PSM Makassar continued its positive trend by achieving its second consecutive win, after defeating hosts Madura United with a 3-1 victory in the Liga 1 match at the Gelora Bangkalan Stadium, Madura, Sunday.
The team nicknamed Juku Eja has now risen to sixth place in the standings with 39 points, only one point behind the fourth-placed team, Persija Jakarta, who will play against PSIS Semarang on Tuesday (4/2).
Meanwhile, for Madura United, this defeat feels bitter after they were able to hold the top of the standings Persib Bandung to a draw in the previous match. Laskar Sape Kerrap remains in 17th place in the standings with 21 points.
In another match, Persis Solo increased their chances of staying in Indonesia's top tier competition, by stealing a 1-0 win at Borneo FC's home ground.
Persis currently occupies 15th position in the standings with 22 points, while Borneo is stuck in seventh position with 38 points.
Bali United failed to break into the top four, after being held to a 1-1 draw by their guests Persita Tangerang.
Serdadu Tridatu, who conceded the first goal through a kick from their former player, Eber Bessa, currently sits in fifth place in the standings with 39 points. Meanwhile, Persita sits in tenth place with 36 points.
