KSP: Need to maximize strategic potential of Batam area ports

Tanjungpinang - Head of the Presidential Staff Office of the Republic of Indonesia AM Putranto views it as important to jointly support priority programs for ports in the Batam region, such as the development of the Batu Ampar International Logistics Port, in order to maximize the strategic potential of the Malacca Strait international shipping route.

"This is considering that the Singapore terminal can already utilize up to 40 million TEUs per year, Malaysia 10 million TEUs/year, and Batam City, Riau Islands Province, only 670,000 TEUs/year. This must continue to be encouraged in order to capture even greater opportunities in the future," said AM Putranto at the Balairung BP Batam Building, Wednesday (12/3).

Moreover, continued the Head of KSP, the development of the Batu Ampar International Logistics Port, which is currently in the first stage for the period 2023-2025 with an investment of IDR 1.1 trillion, will be continued with the second stage of development in 2025-2028 with a total investment of IDR 2.7 trillion.
