Karawang Bulog continues to boost absorption of farmers' rice

Karawang - The Karawang Branch Office of Bulog, West Java, continues to boost the absorption of dry harvested rice directly to farmers, as part of an effort to provide a decent and stable price for rice to farmers.

Head of Perum Bulog Karawang Branch Office, Umar Said in his statement in Karawang, Thursday, said that the realization of absorption of dry harvested rice until mid-March 2025 was quite good, even exceeding the target that had been set.

Until March, Bulog Karawang's rice absorption was actually targeted to reach 16,700 tons. However, the realization was quite high, reaching 22,800 tons of rice. So the achievement of realization reached 136 percent of the target.

"We continue to work to absorb dry harvested rice from farmers, with an absorption of between 1,000-2,000 tons per day until April," said Umar.

To facilitate the absorption of the rice, Bulog Karawang has collaborated with the Indonesian Army Kodim through Babinsa and Field Extension Officers from the Agriculture Service in three areas of responsibility of Bulog Karawang, namely Karawang, Bekasi Regency and Bekasi City.

It was stated that the collaboration was carried out by making all Danramil Offices a Joint Post for Grain Pickup Execution, as an effort to be closer to farmers at the harvest location.

"We also launched the slogan "Inform, Immediately Pick Up, Immediately Pay" so that socialization and information related to GKP absorption activities and the government's purchase price of IDR 6,500 per kilogram can be more easily accepted by the public," he said.
