Jakarta - Indonesian weightlifting team manager Pura Darmawan said the Red and White lifters showed significant progress in initial tests conducted last week as part of preparations for the prestigious event in 2025.
"Since January 2025 until now, there has been quite good progress," Pura told ANTARA in Jakarta, Tuesday.
Pura explained that initial tests are routinely conducted every year to measure the athletes' abilities and become the basis for compiling future training programs.
The initial test covered various aspects, including physical condition, health, and lifting performance. The evaluation results showed that almost 80-90 percent of lifters who joined the national training recorded improvements from their best records.
This year, the initial test aims to measure the readiness of athletes before competing in the 2025 World Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Lima, Peru on April 30 - May 5, and the 2025 Asian Weightlifting Championships in Jiangshan, China on May 9-15.
