Jakarta - Chess player IM Nayaka Budhidarma won the open category title of the 2025 Ramadhan Cup rapid chess tournament at the Kemenpora Building, Jakarta, Sunday.
In the two-day tournament, Nayaka was undefeated, winning eight matches and drawing one, earning a total of 8.5 points from the nine rounds played.
"I didn't think I would be the champion. But I'm happy that I could be the champion in a big tournament like this because there were many strong opponents. In fact, this championship achievement was beyond prediction," said Nayaka as quoted from the PB Percasi statement.
It is recorded that Nayaka only played a draw against IM Gilbert Elroy in the seventh round. The rest, the chess player from Malang won consecutively over Dio, Agus, Cie, FM Surya Wahyudi, IM Anjas Novita, CM Dzithault Ramadhan, GM Susanto Megaranto, and IM Arif Abdul Hafiz.
