Jakarta - Hindus in DKI Jakarta held a sea clean-up action in Cilincing, North Jakarta, in commemoration of the Holy Day of Nyepi, Saka New Year 1947 and the action was a real manifestation of the community's concern.
"This clean-up activity is a real manifestation of the Hindu community's concern for environmental sustainability, especially the sea which is a source of life," said the Head of the DKI Jakarta Nyepi Committee, I Nyoman Sutrisna in Jakarta, Saturday.
According to him, "Makerthi Ayuning Segara" is not just a routine activity, but has a deep spiritual meaning for Hindus.
He explained that the activity taught to always maintain harmony between humans, nature and God, because the sea is not only a source of life, but also part of the process of self-purification.
