Jakarta - The government has stressed the importance of tightening regulations and increasing supervision in an effort to protect children on digital platforms.
Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid said that children face the risk of exposure to negative content and online bullying on social media platforms.
"We see this disaster happening before our eyes. Our children are losing focus, getting addicted to social media, and becoming vulnerable to online exploitation," he was quoted as saying in a ministry press release in Jakarta on Wednesday.
In a meeting with representatives of global digital platform providers at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Office in Jakarta on Tuesday (11/3), he stated that strict regulations are needed to ensure children's safety in the digital space.
