Jakarta - Brain Bypass Surgery STA-MCA is a medical procedure that is a new hope for healing stroke patients and those with brain blood vessel problems.
Neurosurgery specialist at Siloam Lippo Village Hospital, Prof. Dr. dr. Julius July, Sp.BS, M.Kes explained that the STA-MCA Brain Bypass Surgery can be a solution for patients with a high risk of stroke.
"The STA-MCA bypass operation is a solution for patients who experience blockage or disruption of blood flow to the brain, where other methods are no longer effective," said Prof. Julius July in a press release on Monday.
He explained that the STA ( Superficial Temporal Artery ) is an artery located outside the skull, on the side of the head, which functions to supply blood to the scalp tissue and the outside of the skull.
Meanwhile, the MCA ( Middle Cerebral Artery ) is one of the main arteries in the brain that is responsible for supplying blood to most areas of the cerebrum, including the frontal, temporal, and parietal lobes.
Brain Bypass Surgery, specifically the Superficial Temporal Artery to Middle Cerebral Artery bypass procedure , is a neurosurgical technique that aims to restore blood flow to the brain by connecting the superficial artery to the middle cerebral artery.
