Jakarta - Pediatrician, kidney and urinary tract specialist at RSCM Dr. dr. Eka Laksmi HIdayati, Sp. A, Subs. Nephrology (K) said that food and drinks do not directly cause kidney disease but do go through several stages.
"So, going through various processes first, if you eat too much, lots of sugar, lots of food, lots of salt, the impact is that children are obese, then obesity causes the risk of hypertension, high blood sugar levels, diabetes mellitus, a disease that in young adulthood can cause kidney failure," said Dr. Eka in a webinar monitored from Jakarta, Friday.
He emphasized that neither processed food nor fresh food ( real food) directly causes kidney failure.
