Jakarta - Sports Medicine Specialist Dr. Andhika Respati advised against sleeping immediately after eating sahur, because it can disrupt digestion."After eating, it takes time to digest our food. So if we sleep immediately (after sahur) it is feared that it will disrupt digestion," said Dr. Andhika when contacted by ANTARA from Jakarta, Monday. In addition to digestive disorders, he said, sleeping after eating can trigger individuals who have a history of GERD. This is because of increased pressure in the stomach which can cause stomach acid to rise into the esophagus.Meanwhile, to meet the eight-hour sleep requirement during Ramadan, he suggested implementing the same or routine rest pattern.
