Klaten, Central Java - Deputy President Director of Perum Bulog Marga Taufiq asked farmers to commit to maintaining the quality of the harvested rice so that processing at rice milling centers can take place more quickly and efficiently.
"We hope that farmers maintain the quality of the rice because when the quality of the rice decreases, it is also quite troublesome. The processing takes longer," said Marga when met on the sidelines of attending the mass harvest in Klaten, Central Java, Saturday.
Marga said that good quality rice is very necessary to speed up the processing and storage process in the warehouse, because low quality rice requires special treatment and takes longer to process.
Poor quality paddy will also affect storage in warehouses, thus disrupting the government's food reserve distribution process.
"So if for example the rice is not good, of course it will not be stored for long in the warehouse. And this also has an impact when it is later distributed (to the community)," he said.
He explained that Bulog has been tasked with accelerating the absorption of dry harvested grain (GKP) at the farmer level with the provision of the Government Purchase Price (HPP) of IDR 6,500 per kilogram.
