Jakarta - Meta will trial the Community Notes system on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads starting March 18, 2025, where this system will replace third-party fact-checking previously used by the social media platform.
As reported by Engadget on Saturday, Community Notes will not immediately appear publicly, because Meta wants to ensure the writing and assessment system works well before being implemented widely.
The new system is similar to Community Notes on X (formerly Twitter), where users can add additional context to posts that need clarification or correction. Meta will even use X’s open-source algorithms as the basis for its system.
"This allows us to build on what X created and improve it for our own platform," Meta said.
