Samarinda - The Samarinda, East Kalimantan branch of the National Logistics Agency will soon hold the last stage of this Ramadan's cheap market on March 25, 2025 in Mahakam Ulu Regency so that it is hoped that the basic needs for the country's border areas will be met.
"During this Ramadan, we will hold a cheap market 20 times, starting before Ramadan and ending on March 25, 2025 in Mahakam Ulu Regency," said Head of the Samarinda Branch of Perum Bulog, Ronny Anwar in Samarinda, Friday.
The working area of Bulog Samarinda includes Samarinda, Bontang, East Kutai Regency, Kutai Kartanegara, West Kutai and Mahakam Ulu Regency.
The existence of a cheap market in the area bordering the land area of Sarawak, Malaysia, is expected to not only meet basic needs but also stabilize prices ahead of Eid 2025.
This Friday, a cheap market was held in Sungai Pinang District, Samarinda, with various commodities sold at cheaper prices than those in general markets.
Items sold at the cheap market include rice, cooking oil, flour, and a number of other necessities provided by partners.
The cheap market continued on Saturday in the yard of the Samarinda Police.
Since the first cheap market was held until this Friday, the total rice sold was 25,000 kilograms, then 5,000 kilograms of granulated sugar, 4,800 liters of cooking oil, and 2,000 kilograms of wheat flour.
This activity is intended to suppress the rate of inflation during Ramadan because the level of community needs is usually high during Ramadan and approaching Eid al-Fitr.
According to him, the cheap market to maintain price stability is carried out in collaboration with related parties, in Samarinda for example, active collaboration is being carried out with the Trade Service.
