Medan - The North Sumatra Regional Office of the State Logistics Agency is ready to absorb dry corn kernels from farmers in the region in accordance with the Cost of Goods Sold .
"We are ready to buy corn kernels from local farmers which the government has set at IDR 5,500 per kilogram," said the Head of the North Sumatra Bulog Regional Office, Budi Cahyanto in Medan, Thursday.
Budi said that the purchase of corn was inseparable from the fact that a number of areas in North Sumatra had entered the harvest season, such as in Karo Regency, Dairi, Pakpak Bharat and other areas.
He said that his party is open to those who want to sell shelled corn to improve the welfare of local farmers in North Sumatra at a price of IDR 5,500 per kilogram.
This policy has been stipulated in the Decree of the Head of the National Food Agency No. 2 of 2025 concerning changes to the Government Purchase Price and the fractionation of unhusked rice and rice, effective January 15, 2025.
This is to protect farmers as an important element in the framework of accelerating food self-sufficiency. Thus, the government and all related parties can work together to realize food self-sufficiency and no more farmers are harmed.
