Jakarta - The National Standardization Agency emphasized the importance of implementing the Indonesian National Standard to ensure the quality of gold products in Indonesia.
Acting Head of BSN Y. Kristianto Widiwardono said that SNI plays an important role in providing consumer protection and creating a healthier and more transparent gold trading ecosystem.
"Although this gold SNI is voluntary or not mandatory, BSN hopes that the implementation of the gold SNI can increase trust and the quality of gold products circulating in Indonesia," said Kristianto in a statement in Jakarta, Wednesday.
Currently, BSN has established two SNI related to gold, namely SNI 8880:2025 (gold items) and SNI ISO 15093:2020 (jewelry and precious metals), which regulate the method of determining the content of high purity gold, platinum, and palladium using the ICP-OES technique.
