Aceh Provincial Government Hopes UAE Will Continue Construction of Toll Road to North Sumatra

Banda Aceh - The Aceh Provincial Government hopes that the United Arab Emirates will invest in Aceh, one of which is continuing the construction of the Sigli-Banda Aceh Toll Road to Pangkalan Brandan, North Sumatra.

"We propose that the Pangkalan Brandan-Langsa toll road connection reach Sigli," said Aceh Regional Secretary Alhudri in Banda Aceh, Aceh, Sunday.

Alhudri made the statement while accompanying the UAE Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri and President Director of Mubadala Energy Indonesia Abdulla Bu Ali to review the Sibanceh Toll Road facilities.

The visit was aimed at seeing the readiness of toll road facilities that can facilitate land travel to the eastern route of Aceh to Medan, North Sumatra.

Mubadala Energy is an international company from the UAE engaged in oil and gas exploration and production. The visit of the UAE Ambassador and Mubadala Energy to Aceh was to explore opportunities for cooperation with the Aceh Provincial Government.

Alhudri said that the construction of the toll road in Aceh until today is still up to Padang Tiji, Pidie Regency. Therefore, it is hoped that the UAE is willing to invest in the continuation of its development until it is connected to North Sumatra. Especially in the Langsa-Lhokseumawe-Sigli segment.

"Yes, exactly (the toll road will be included in the UAE investment). The length is around 430 kilometers and it will be connected (to North Sumatra)," he said.

He said that the UAE was opening up opportunities to build toll roads in Aceh, and asked the Aceh Provincial Government to immediately prepare its proposal.
