Moscow - Britain is ready to deploy troops to Ukraine if needed to ensure the country's security, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said.
"The UK stands ready to play a leading role in accelerating security reassurance efforts for Ukraine. This includes further support for the Ukrainian military, to which the UK has committed £3bn (around Rp) per year until at least 2030," Starmer said in an opinion piece published in the Telegraph newspaper.
"However, this also means being ready and willing to contribute to ensuring security for Ukraine by deploying our troops on the ground if necessary," he added.
Starmer acknowledged that he felt “very deeply” the enormous responsibility of potentially putting British troops at risk.“But any role in ensuring the security of Ukraine is also ensuring the security of our continent and the security of this country,” Starmer said.
He added that Europe must step up efforts to meet Europe's security needs.
