Jakarta - A new horror film titled "Anak Kunti" will be shown simultaneously in cinemas in Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, and Singapore starting February 20, 2025.

According to a press release from the production house in Jakarta, Wednesday, the film, which carries the theme of the urban legend about kuntilanak, will also be shown in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh in April 2025.

The film "Anak Kunti" is set in the 1990s, telling the story of an orphaned female student who returns to Wonoenggal Village to find out about her family.

Her arrival triggered the terror of the kuntilanak who was later believed to be the spirit of her biological mother, who died while giving birth amidst the village riots.

The film "Anak Kunti" presents a horror story with a story about family relationships and mother's love.

"The film 'Anak Kunti', apart from having suspenseful elements, is expected to have a deep message about a mother's love, so that it can be a reflection and contemplation for the audience," said Gito Huang as the film's executive producer.

Nuon Digital Indonesia, a subsidiary of Telkom Group which operates in the digital content and entertainment sector, supports the production of the horror film.
