RI-Türkiye increase annual trade target to 10 billion US dollars

Jakarta - Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat said the meeting between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed to increase the annual trade target to 10 billion US dollars (around Rp161.1 trillion).

“Today, our leaders set an annual trade target of US$10 billion between the two countries,” Minister Bolat said at the Indonesia-Turkiye Business Forum in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Minister Bolat said the reason for increasing the target was because the trade value between the two countries was still low, even though each country had an equally large foreign trade value.

He noted that Turkey has a national income of 1.3 trillion US dollars (Rp20,943 trillion) and Indonesia is 1.4 trillion US dollars (Rp22,544). Then, Turkey's total foreign trade in goods trade reached 606 billion US dollars (Rp9,762 trillion) and 175 billion (Rp2,819 trillion)

"However, the volume of bilateral foreign trade does not seem much, only around 3 billion US dollars (Rp48.3 trillion) which shows the great potential of our partnership in the very near future. This trend reflects the dynamism in certain sectors," he said.

The Government of the Republic of Indonesia together with the Government of the Republic of Türkiye agreed on 13 points of cooperation with the signing of cooperation documents by each high-ranking official as evidence of a solid partnership between the two countries.

Therefore, through the meeting between the two heads of state and the ministers which took place on the same day at the Presidential Palace of the Republic of Indonesia, Bogor City, West Java, many agreements were made ranging from foreign affairs, defense, agriculture, industry, trade, energy, religion to cultural affairs.

InshaAllah , all these 12 agreements and projects that have been discussed today will contribute to much better and developing relations between the two brotherly countries,” he said.

Minister Bolat further emphasized that the relationship between Turkey and Indonesia is very deep, rooted in shared history, cultural proximity, and a firm commitment to the prosperity of the people. The agreements and meetings between ministers and state leaders, he continued, are a clear sign of this commitment.

“It is in this spirit of brotherhood that we come today to explore paths of economic growth and cooperation,” he stressed.
