Jakarta - Sumut United club owner Arya Sinulingga promised to maximize the talents of native players from North Sumatra for Sumut United in the Indonesian League 2 next season.
Arya said this after Sumut United became champions of the Nusantara League (League 3) following a convincing 4-1 victory over Tornado FC in the final match at the Indomilk Arena Stadium, Tangerang Regency, Banten, Thursday.
"There will definitely be a reshuffle, most of them will be from North Sumatra. We want to create a club for player development. The main priority is from the children of North Sumatra," said Arya when met by media crew after the final match at the Indomilk Arena, Thursday.
Arya said this because he, who was born in Karo, North Sumatra, wanted to provide an opportunity for young people there to play football at the highest level.
"These are players from North Sumatra, 90 percent of them are North Sumatran children. This is what we are building. Previously, they were children from the North Sumatra PON yesterday, so this is really for the development of North Sumatran children. In North Sumatra, there is a lack of clubs that play in the top leagues. And they need those clubs," said Arya.
Arya was then asked where Sumut United will be based in League 2. In this case, the answer is that Sumut United will definitely be based in North Sumatra. However, he has not yet determined which stadium will be used.
The Mini Pancing Stadium in Deli Serdang, which will be used for the women's soccer branch at the 2024 Aceh-North Sumatra PON, according to him, is a stadium that is worthy of consideration as the home ground for North Sumatra United.
"Mini fishing is also suitable for League 2. It's good as a home base and not too big. There is a possibility there, but I don't know yet," explained Arya.
In the final match, Tornado took the lead through Yoga Pratama's goal (15'). Sumut United then equalized and turned things around through two goals from Jalesh Putra (29', 42') in the first half.
