Jakarta - The Ministry of Industry is committed to strengthening the pace of downstreaming in the petrochemical and gas industry with various policy breakthroughs to help achieve the 8 percent economic growth target as desired by President Prabowo Subianto.
Director General of the Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Textile Industry (IKFT) of the Ministry of Industry, Taufiek Bawzier in Jakarta, Saturday, said this was done considering that the petrochemical and gas sectors provide a large multiplier effect on other economic sectors.
"The IKFT sector must pump in an additional GDP contribution of Rp39.77 trillion with a scenario of the industrial sector's portion of national GDP of 18.9 percent. If the target scenario for the industry contributes 21.9 percent of national GDP, then the IKFT sector must pump in an additional contribution of Rp46.09 trillion," he said.
According to him, this technocratic calculation was taken from the initial calculation (baseline) of constant price GDP in 2024 which was IDR 12,920 trillion.
