Jakarta - Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Dito Ariotedjo emphasized that the temporary suspension of national training camps (pelatnas) for a number of sports was not due to a budget efficiency policy, but was part of an annual evaluation.
"It's not true," Dito told ANTARA when confirmed on Tuesday night, responding to the issue that the national training was stopped due to budget efficiency.
Dito explained that the 2024 national training calendar for all sports ended on January 31. Routine evaluations are carried out at the end of each January, which causes a break before the national training resumes according to needs and evaluation results.
"A comprehensive evaluation of the national training camp has been carried out as of January 31, 2025. In this process, there is a time gap in February 2025 before the national training camp resumes," Dito emphasized.
Dito also revealed that later there will be adjustments to priorities in the national training program based on the results of the evaluation carried out.
"Our current focus is on preparations for the 2025 SEA Games in December as the closest event, and in preparation for the 2026 Asian Games, 2028 Olympics, and Para Games in every event," said Dito.
