Jakarta - Minister of National Development Planning (PPN)/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Rachmat Pambudy said that logistics is part of a major strategy in national economic development.
"Logistics is not just a service for distributing goods and money, but also part of a grand strategy in economic development. Logistics plays a key role in economic growth, especially in terms of distributing goods, money, and other services. Therefore, I hope logistics can be part of a strategic national policy," he said in a meeting with PT Pos Indonesia, quoted from an official statement in Jakarta, Sunday.
As one of the oldest logistics companies in the country, PT Pos Indonesia is said to have a wide network that covers all corners of the country. However, there are still challenges in providing services, especially outside Java.
Based on 2023 data, PT Pos Indonesia and its partners only cover 69.5 percent of sub-districts in Indonesia with 2,221 sub-districts still unserved.
With increasingly developing digital connectivity, continued the Minister of PPN, PT Pos Indonesia is expected to optimize services to be more efficient and reach all regions of Indonesia.
"Today's technological developments and digital connectivity enable businesses to make faster, more integrated and transparent deliveries. This is an important step in supporting economic transformation," said Rachmat Pambudy.
In addition to improving services, the Head of Bappenas hopes that PT Pos Indonesia can carry out logistics transformation to support the growth of the digital economy and e-commerce which continues to grow.
"The postal and logistics industry must adapt to technological developments. Without strong postal and courier providers, e-commerce and the industrial sector will not grow optimally to support economic growth," he said.
Rachmat emphasized that collaboration and synergy between the Ministry of PPN/Bappenas and PT Pos Indonesia must continue to be strengthened to achieve various national development targets, including economic growth of 8 percent.
