Jakarta - LeBron James is confirmed to remain with the Los Angeles Lakers until the NBA's trade deadline next Thursday, with the aim of forming the newest superstar duo in his career with Luka Doncic.
James previously signed a two-year contract extension with the Lakers last offseason, which included a no-trade clause that prevented him from being traded without his consent.
Before this clause was implemented, the Golden State Warriors had made an offer to bring in James at the February 2024 trade deadline.
The initial conversation between Warriors owner Joe Lacob and Lakers owner Jeanie Buss was then directed to James' representative, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports. Paul assured Lacob that his client had no interest in moving to the Warriors.
Days later, during NBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis, James expressed his desire to finish his career with the Lakers.
"I'm a Laker and I've been happy and very happy to be a part of the Lakers for the last six years. Hopefully it stays that way," James said at the time, as quoted from the NBA website.
