KPAI: Prioritize CKG for children with disabilities, special treatment is needed

Jakarta - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) reminded the government that the Free Health Check Program (CKG) for children with disabilities must be given greater priority.

"Of course, in this case, we will continue to monitor them because they deserve to be a priority," said KPAI member Diyah Puspitarini in Jakarta, Wednesday.

Diyah explained that deploying a support team so that children with disabilities can feel the benefits of CKG is one of the priorities referred to by KPAI.

The support team not only socialized how children with disabilities are registered as participants in the CKG Program in health service units, but KPAI also asked them to be tasked with recapitulating the history of illness, health complaints, and drug prescriptions for action after their health has been checked.

According to him, this needs to be prioritized as found by the KPAI team which found that the majority of children with disabilities have not received the services they really need, especially those in the Social Welfare Institutions (LPKS).

"There must be provisions for children with disabilities, the treatment is different, imagine there are those who have difficulty speaking, hearing, if they are not accompanied or there is a special support team, how can CKG be right on target afterwards. Yes, on the other hand, don't let there be any parties or groups that discriminate against them," he said.

Although not explaining in detail, Diyah also reminded related institutions to immediately complete BPJS Health membership for people with disabilities which has not yet reached all groups, which amount to 8.5 percent of the total population.
