Labuan Bajo - The danger zone or prohibition for people to carry out activities around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Flores Regency has been expanded by the Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) due to the increasing trend of volcanic activity and an increase in volcanic earthquakes.
Head of the Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Muhammad Wafid in a statement received in Labuan Bajo on Wednesday, said that the results of visual and seismic monitoring also showed the potential for an eruption to occur in the future.
"Based on the results of a comprehensive analysis and evaluation of visual and instrumental monitoring, it shows that visual and seismic activity on Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has increased, so that the activity level of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is still set at Level III (ALERT)," he said.
He issued a recommendation by appealing to the community around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and visitors or tourists not to carry out any activities within a five kilometer radius of the eruption center of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and the southwest - north - northeast sector as far as six km.
Previously, the community around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and visitors or tourists were asked not to carry out any activities within a radius of four kilometers from the center of the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and the southwest - north - northeast sector as far as five km.
