Jakarta - Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini surprisingly criticized his own player Ademola Lookman for missing a penalty in the second leg defeat of the Champions League play-off against Club Brugge at the Atleti Azzurri d'Italia Stadium, Wednesday WIB.
At 1-3, Lookman, who had just scored for Atalanta, decided to take the penalty when his teammate Juan Cuadrado was brought down in the box.
However, Lookman's penalty kick failed because it was saved by Brugge goalkeeper Simon Mignolet. Atalanta's momentum was lost and they were thrown out of the Champions League.
"Lookman shouldn't have taken that penalty, he is one of the worst penalty takers I have ever seen," Gasperini was quoted as saying by Football Italia on Wednesday.
Gasperini then revealed another surprising fact that the Nigerian player was very bad at taking penalties in training.
