Freeport smelter records 69 million safe working hours

Gresik, East Java - PT Freeport Indonesia's (PTFI) smelter recorded an achievement of 69 million safe working hours from September 4, 2023 to February 7, 2025 with employees continuing to prioritize a work safety culture through the Safe Operation Startup and Safe Production Principles.

"All employees work by prioritizing a work safety culture. The principles of Safe Operation Startup and Safe Production are truly implemented well," said PTFI Deputy Head of Mining Engineering Sony Suryanto in Gresik, Friday.

Sony explained that to achieve 69 million safe working hours, PTFI encourages every employee to implement five main steps in working, namely starting with carrying out routine communication about safety to employees.

This is then continued by building a culture of mutual reminders and preventive actions to reduce the risk of accidents and ensure compliance with safety policies with sanctions for violators.
