Meulaboh - The West Aceh District Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded that eight houses in Meutulang Village, Panton Reue District, in the local district were damaged after most of the houses were affected by river erosion.
"There were no fatalities, but 42 residents were affected," said Acting Head of the West Aceh BPBD, Teuku Ronal to reporters in West Aceh, Sunday.
As for the residents affected by the natural disaster, 42 people consisted of three elderly residents, one pregnant woman, and four toddlers.
In addition to causing residents to be affected, a number of houses were also reported to have been badly damaged, especially in the kitchen area, due to the ground structure sinking by approximately one meter.
He said the disaster occurred on Saturday (22/2) evening at around 18.00 WIB, after the area was hit by rain accompanied by strong winds, causing erosion on the riverbank.

Teuku Ronal said that due to the high rainfall, the river in the area had overflowed, causing erosion and causing damage to residents' homes.
In order to overcome the disaster experienced by residents, the West Aceh BPBD has also deployed officers to the disaster location to conduct data collection, as well as carry out emergency response efforts.
