Jakarta - Eye specialist who graduated from the University of Indonesia, Dr. dr. Nina Asrini Noor, SpM, said that compressing dry eyes with a towel soaked in warm water, not cold water, can relieve symptoms of discomfort on the surface of the eyelids.
Nina, as Head of Dry Eye Service at JEC Hospitals and Clinics, further elaborated her statement that compressing the eyes with cold water usually has a different benefit, namely making tired eyes more relaxed.
"Actually, if the specific purpose is for dry eyes, what is recommended is warm, but that doesn't mean that cold compresses will make it worse, that's not true. Because cold compresses have other purposes, for example, tired eyes, they can be more relaxed after cold compresses," said Nina when met at the JEC Kedoya eye hospital, West Jakarta, Saturday.
