Beijing - The Chinese government has begun distributing aid to Palestinians who have had to flee the Gaza Strip due to Israeli attacks.
"Recently, the Chinese government has provided emergency humanitarian aid to Gaza, consisting of 60,000 food packages, which will be brought from Jordan," Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a press conference in Beijing on Wednesday (19/2).
A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas was reached in the Gaza Strip on January 15. The deal consists of three phases that began on January 19.
"The initial delivery, which includes about 12,000 food packages, has been completed. As a major country with a sense of responsibility, China will continue to work with the international community to make unremitting efforts to ease the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and maintain peace and security in the Middle East," Guo Jiakun added.
