China announces names of suit, rover for moon mission



 

Beijing - The China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) on Wednesday (12/2) announced the names of the spacesuit for the lunar landing and the manned lunar rover for China's manned lunar exploration mission.

The lunar landing spacesuit is named Wangyu, which means gazing at the universe. It is similar to China’s extravehicular activities (EVA) suit, Feitian, which means flying into space, according to CMSA.Meanwhile, China’s manned lunar rover is named Tansuo, which means exploring the unknown. The name reflects the mission and practical value of the rover in helping the Chinese people unravel the mysteries of the moon, CMSA said. Currently, research and development efforts related to Wangyu and Tansuo are progressing smoothly, CMSA said.
