Jakarta - The Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) stated that after carrying out weather modification operations (OMC), Jakarta was spared from extreme rain with a reduction in rainfall of 50-60 percent.

"OMC has succeeded in providing a 50-60 percent reduction in rainfall from the predictions released by BMKG before the cloud seeding process," said the spokesperson for the implementation of the 2025 OMC activities, Michael Sitanggang, in Jakarta, Tuesday.

He said that OMC in Jakarta was implemented together with the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the Indonesian Air Force (AU), and PT RAI.

According to him, on the fourth day, 2 sorties were carried out using 1,600 kilograms of NaCl seeding material targeting the West-Southwest and Southwest-Northwest regions.

"The first seeding at 09.30-11.55 WIB was carried out in the West-Southwest area of ​​Banten-Sunda Strait Waters. While the second seeding was carried out at 14.05-16.10 WIB which was carried out in the Southwest to Northwest areas of Jakarta," he said.

He added that the total NaCl seedling material that had been used up to the fourth day was 3,200 kg with details of use, namely February 2, 2025 with 1 sortie of 800 kg of seedling material, February 3, 2025 with 1 sortie of 800 kg of seedling material, and February 4, 2025 with 2 sorties of 1,600 kg of seedling material.
