African leaders urge immediate halt to normalization efforts with Israel

Tehran - The African Union (AU) strongly condemned Israel's crimes against the Palestinian people, called for an end to all normalization efforts with the Israeli regime, and urged that its authorities be tried in international courts.

In a final statement released after the two-day 38th annual summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Sunday (16/2), African leaders expressed their rejection of "violations of international law and the targeting of civilians and infrastructure by Israel."

"Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian people and must be tried in an international court," the statement said.

The AU leaders demanded an end to all forms of "cooperation and normalization with Israel until its occupation and aggression against Palestine ends."

They also called for the immediate release of all Palestinian prisoners, especially women and children, from Israeli prisons.

In solidarity, African leaders reject any form of forced eviction of Palestinians from their land, which is a violation of international law.
