Jakarta - United States President Donald Trump said that Microsoft is one of the companies interested in taking control of TikTok to help the app avoid a ban.
"I would say yes," Trump said Monday evening (1/27) local time when asked if Microsoft was among the companies interested in helping shape TikTok's new 33 in an effort to meet requirements set by Congress to remain operational in the United States.
According to an Associated Press report quoted in the South China Morning Post on Tuesday, Trump said other companies were also interested in buying TikTok, but he would not name which companies. Ok ⁶
"I like bidding wars because you make your best deal," Trump said.
Microsoft declined to comment on Trump’s remarks. TikTok representatives also did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
