Jakarta - The South Korean team strengthened by Indonesian national team hitter Megawati Hangestri, Red Sparks, failed to continue their 13-game winning streak in the South Korean national volleyball league when they were defeated by Pink Spiders at Chungmu Gymnasium, Daejeon, Thursday.
In that match, the Red Sparks suffered a 2-3 defeat (21-25, 28-26, 25-15, 15-25, 15-9).
With the result, the Red Sparks are in third place in the South Korean women's national volleyball league standings with 47 points. They are three points behind second-placed Hillstate and eight points behind leaders Pink Spiders.
Red Sparks played aggressively from the start of the match. They even led 7-4 before Pink Spiders started to rise and turned the score around to lead 10-8.
Chasing points and taking turns leading decorated the first set. The Red Sparks were behind 9-11, before then turning things around with a 14-11 advantage.
Pink Spiders then came back and held the lead 20-21. Before three consecutive attacks by Megawati and her teammates failed to produce points, and Pink Spiders closed the set with a 25-21 victory.
