BGN says chicken processing error triggers MBG poisoning in Sukoharjo

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Dadan Hindayana said there was a technical error in processing chicken on the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) menu which allegedly triggered a number of students to be poisoned in Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java, Thursday.

"As many as 40 people ate marinated chicken, after knowing that some people felt nauseous, all the chicken was withdrawn and replaced with eggs," said Dadan via text message in Jakarta, Thursday.

Dadan said that the student who had been poisoned had shown symptoms of nausea, and was immediately treated by officers and treated according to medical procedures.

"Those who were nauseous were treated by officers and treated and are now cheerful again," he said.

Officers also acted quickly by withdrawing all chicken dishes, including crispy chicken, and replacing them with boiled eggs.

When asked whether the incident was caused by a technical error in presenting the MBG menu, Dadan admitted this.

"Technical processing. The details will follow, yes," he said.

Previously reported, a food poisoning incident occurred at SDN Dukuh 03 Sukoharjo after a number of students consumed food from the MBG Program.

The food that arrived at school at 09.00 WIB consisted of white rice, fried chicken, stir-fried vegetables with carrots and tofu, dragon fruit, and milk.

Some students began to experience symptoms such as nausea, dizziness, and vomiting after eating the menu.

Of the 200 students who received the food, about 10 students from grades 1 to 6 reported symptoms. They also smelled a stale odor from the battered chicken served.

The school immediately withdrew the remaining food and reported this incident to the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) and the Sukoharjo City Health Center.

The Head of the Sukoharjo City Health Center, Kunari Mahanani, confirmed that the chicken served was not cooked properly, as acknowledged by the Sukoharjo 0726 Kodim as the SPPG manager.

However, the students' condition does not require further treatment in the hospital. They only experienced mild symptoms and have received medical treatment in the form of medication from health center officer
