Social media activists circulated a video of worshippers performing the Isha prayer in the Grand Mosque during heavy rains in Mecca.
The video showed worshippers lining up during the evening prayer yesterday, Monday, and prostrating themselves amidst the water that had collected on the ground.
For its part, the Saudi authorities warned of heavy rains falling today, Tuesday, in some areas of the Kingdom, which prompted some cities to suspend school, such as Mecca.
The National Center of Meteorology issued, during the last hours, warnings of heavy rains in some areas in Mecca. This warning is called the “red alert,” while some areas, such as Medina, Riyadh, Najran, Asir, and Tabuk, are witnessing light rain (yellow alert) and medium rain (orange alert).
The center indicated that areas in Makkah Al-Mukarramah (Al-Shu'aiba, Rahat, Madrakah, Huda Al-Sham, Bahra, Al-Jamoum, the Holy Capital, Adham, Bani Yazid, Jadham, Maysan, Yalamlam, Al-Qunfudhah, Al-Laith, Al-Kamil, Al-Taif, and Al-Ardiyat) are witnessing heavy rains, strong winds, floods, and thunderstorms, and the conditions will continue until 11 pm on Tuesday.
The center warned that the regions of Medina, Jazan and Al-Baha will witness heavy rains, strong winds, floods and thunderstorms.
