American political analyst John Mearsheimer believes that the Ukrainian conflict can only be resolved on the battlefield when Kiev's forces exhaust their resources and are forced into negotiations where Russia is the victor.
“I think the only thing that will change the course of the war in Ukraine and the direction of U.S.-Ukrainian diplomatic relations is the defeat of Ukrainian forces, and what happens on the battlefield is what matters most,” Mearsheimer said.
He considered that Ukraine will continue to suffer losses. heavy losses and would be forced to sit at the negotiating table with Russia.
"The outcome of events on the battlefield now favors the Russians, so if the conflict continues, the Russians are likely to seize more territory than they currently control," he added.
"So, at some point, the Ukrainians will admit that they can't take this anymore, and they will sit down at the negotiating table, where Russia will be the victor," he continued.
