Israeli military authorities are investigating the leak of a Hamas document found by the army in the Gaza Strip to international media outlets, including the German newspaper Bild.
The military spokesman said, "The leaked document is old and was prepared by low-level Hamas leaders, not Sinwar," noting that the information contained in the document is not new and has been presented to decision-makers several times.
On the Philadelphia axis.. Netanyahu's assistant attacks Sisi and "questions the results"
Last Friday, the Bild newspaper published this "secret" document, which includes Hamas's strategies for negotiating with Israel through the mediation of the countries concerned.
According to Hebrew media, the document reveals the Hamas leadership's plans to deceive the international community and use the families of the kidnapped to achieve a main goal, which is to restore the movement's military capabilities and secure its continued control over the Gaza Strip.
The document also "indicates that Hamas does not intend to seek a quick end to the war for the sake of the people of Gaza, but rather the opposite."
Maariv newspaper indicated that Egyptian officials participating in the negotiations to reach a deal expressed their anger at the response to Cairo's request to pressure Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to withdraw from the Philadelphi corridor, "because this is contrary to the peace agreement signed between Israel and Egypt."
The Hebrew newspaper reported that Netanyahu said that he no longer needed the Egyptian mediation role in the next stage, which increased the anger of the Egyptians.
Sources indicated that "security and diplomatic officials in Egypt are now discussing several scenarios for escalation, including the possibility of returning Egyptian Ambassador Khaled Azmy from Tel Aviv and heading to the Security Council to pressure Israel to withdraw from the Philadelphi Corridor."
