The Libyan House of Representatives announced, on Tuesday evening, the suspension of the Geneva Political Agreement.
Earlier, the Libyan House of Representatives voted to withdraw confidence from the Government of National Unity in Libya and restore the title of Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Army to its presidency.
"The House of Representatives voted unanimously in its official session on Tuesday to end the term of the executive authority that came in the preliminary phase," House of Representatives spokesman Abdullah Blihaq said in a statement.
By voting today, the House of Representatives considered, according to Blihaq, that “Osama Hammad’s government is the legitimate government until a unified government is chosen.”
The House of Representatives considered that "the Supreme Commander of the Army is the Speaker of the House of Representatives, as stated in the Constitutional Declaration and the House of Representatives' decision in particular."
