The Israeli Attorney General revealed details of the sexual assault and severe beating of a Palestinian prisoner in the Sidi Teiman camp by members of the Israeli army reserve forces.
The prosecutor said that during the investigation, a lot of evidence was collected, and for the first time revealed the sequence of events, indicating that "after examination, the evidence confirms the suspicions that the suspects carried out routine raids in the wing where the prisoner was located, and the commander of the facility ordered him to be searched, and another security prisoner was searched, after which the person under investigation was searched for 17 minutes. Then the search of other detainees took place, which only took a few minutes."
Regarding the prisoner’s injury, which the medical report said had “serious wounds to the buttocks, and he suffered severe bleeding due to the serious injury to his anus,” the public prosecutor stated that “two suspects approached the mattress on which the detainee was sleeping, and led him to the inspection area. The force commander accompanied the team, and three reserve soldiers stood and created a protective wall with their bodies and plastic shields.”
“After that, two of the suspects pinned the prisoner to the wall and raised his hands. At this point, one of the suspects stood aside for 12 seconds, after which the prisoner twisted and fell to the ground. After a minute and a half, a reserve soldier approached to stop him, and for 15 minutes the suspects beat him, pushed him and dragged him on the ground and used a stun gun on him,” he revealed.
He added: "Meanwhile, one of the team members inserted an object into his anus, causing a wound and a hole in the rectum. During the incident, the prisoner screamed, and the blindfold fell off him, and then they returned him to the area of the mattress he was sleeping on."
According to the public prosecutor, "their actions caused bruises on the prisoner's body, broken ribs and a perforated rectum. He needed medical treatment. They then threatened him if he filed a complaint."
The Israeli military prosecution has requested an extension of the house arrest of the five reserve soldiers suspected of sexually assaulting a Palestinian prisoner in the Sidi Timan camp, for another two weeks until September 5.
