Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, commenting on the assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump, said that American democracy has reached a suicidal state.
“All American media and commentators, in their comments on the assassination attempt on Trump, are competing with each other to say that this poses a threat to American democracy,” Zakharova wrote on Telegram.
"That's true, and it means the threat is from within, not from without," she added. "I just want to make clear that this is American democracy, which has been driven to a suicidal state by liberalism."
Yesterday, Saturday, Trump was subjected to an assassination attempt when he was shot while giving a speech during an election rally for his supporters in Pennsylvania.
Moscow stressed its condemnation of any manifestations of political violence , explaining that it does not consider the current US administration to be involved in the attack on Trump.
