Igor Samoilenko, a senior researcher at the Department of Dermatological Oncology of the Blokhin Research Center for Oncology, points out that ultraviolet rays of the sun cause the appearance of malignant skin tumors.
“UV rays do not immediately transform normal skin cells into malignant cells, but they leave invisible traces in their DNA, contributing to the appearance of such tumors after 5-15 years,” he told TASS.
According to him, ultraviolet rays do not heat the skin but cause sunburn, photoaging and various types of skin cancer. Hot weather can be dangerous even for healthy people, because in such weather they can suffer from overheating or sunstroke.
“A person should protect their skin from UV rays by wearing clothing that contains SPF, creams that contain SPF, and during the period of highest UV activity, they should spend time indoors,” he says.
